I love pinterest...

Hello friends!

Well, Tony and I have been in the house for a good three months now and I am finally starting to feel settled in.  I have become a serious coupon - clipper, deal finder and bargain hunter! I have been doing a few crafty things here and there and trying out a few new recipes! We still have lots of work to do.. ( closets to organize, shelves to build.. hint hint Tony.. yards to be landscaped etc) but I am having a blast doing it! Here are some things I've been working on.

I really wanted an end table. Something kind of distressed/country/shabby chic- ish. lol. So I found this table on craigslist for 20$.

Then, I painted it a matte black and added a few decorations.. and wa-la! I have an end table :)
Also, I really wanted to find a vintage white mirror like this..
So after a while of searching I found a free one at a sale in Davis!  This was the mirror before.
So I decided to spray paint it! Here's the finished product. Love it! I just don't know where to put it yet...
Oh, and I have to share this deal.. So Tony has been wanting a recliner.  A big, comfy, man chair to play games in.  So I found this one.
I know its a normal, chair.  But! It's brand new, big, comfy, and goes with our decor colors. AND, it was 30$ ! Woo!

hmmm.. What else? I've been trying a few new pinterest recipes. And loved all of them so far! ( Except for a few flops I tried with Natalie. Sad.) But here is my favorite. Perfect for summer.
 I first tried this at a RS event and tried to find something similar. So yummy!
Spinach, cranberry, almond salad & a vinigaret dressing. Mmm!
1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 cup almonds, blanched and slivered
  • 1 pound spinach, rinsed and torn into bite-size pieces
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons minced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • Directions

    1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Cook and stir almonds in butter until lightly toasted. Remove from heat, and let cool.
    2. In a large bowl, combine the spinach with the toasted almonds and cranberries.
    3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, onion, paprika, white wine vinegar, cider vinegar, and vegetable oil. Toss with spinach just before serving.
